FAQ

Where are you located and how do I get there?
We are located at 2905 US 35 N in Richmond Indiana. We are past Love’s Truck Stop and before you get to the 35/38 split.

Why adopt from 2nd Chance Animal Rescue?
2nd Chance Animal Rescue is based solely on donations from the community. That means we are a community run animal rescue. Without the support of the community we wouldn’t be able to give animals the second chance to a happy and healthy life. All of the animals are up to date on shots and spayed/neutered before they are able to be adopted. Our goal is to promote spay and neutering to cut down on the animal population.

What is the adoption process like?
Once you have found a furry friend we will have you fill out an adoption application. Once the application is complete we will look it over, call references, and if a home check is required we would set up a time and day to do that.

How much are the adoption fees?
Kittens are $60                                            Puppies are $120
Adult cats are $30                                       Dogs (under 5 yrs) are $105
Barn cats are $10                                       Dogs (over 5yrs) are $60
Some animals are sponsored which means their adoption fee has already been paid by another donor to help that animal get adopted.

What does the adoption fee cover?
Each animal is vet checked, up to date on all shots, and spayed/neutered before they are able to be adopted. The adoption fees cover those fees plus any additional vet care that the animal needs. It also covers food and supplies such as litter.

Are the animals up to date on all shots before I adopt?
Yes all animals are up to date on all shots and you will be given a copy of all records for that animal.

Are the animals spayed/neutered before I adopt?
Yes. Our goal is to cut down on the animal population in shelters and rescues. We make sure every animal is spayed/neutered before they are adopted from 2nd Chance Animal Rescue.

What is your return policy?
If for some reason the animal does not work out in your home you may return the animal to us within 7 days for a full refund. If at any time you are unable to keep your animal then you may contact us and you may return the animal to us or we will help you place the animal into a new home.

What if I want to adopt a dog but I do not have a fenced in backyard, will I still be able to adopt?
If you would like to adopt a dog from us and you do not have a fenced in backyard then we will need to know how you plan on exercising the animal and a home check will be required before you are able to adopt.

Why do I have to fill out an adoption application?
We at 2nd Chance Animal Rescue want to ensure the animals are going to their forever home. The application is also there in case there is an emergency and you are unable to keep the animal and you need to return them to us. We like to keep in contact with our adopters just in case any questions or concerns come up.
